Our first full day day in Estes Park. It was nice to know we were at our destination for awhile. We started out by going to a backpacking type store we love because they have a "Bargain Basement." As noted before, Abbie didn't have any cold weather things that fit so we were looking for a deal. We didn't find that but Evan did find rock climbing. He begged to do it. We tried to talk him out of it. He can be somewhat timid at new things and honestly, we just knew he'd freak out and not do it. He was so insistent that we gave in. $15 for 3 climbs...we weren't sure. The young woman who belayed him was awesome with him. She explained everything and helped him with his footing along the way. On the first "short climb" he almost gave up, but she encouraged him, as did we, and he made it. Once he made one he was a climbing fool. He climbed th second short wall and wanted to go straight to the big one. We were amazed and impressed by this little, courageous boy.

When he was all done and down he told us that he had been very brave. When we asked why he said that he had gotten scared but decided to be brave and keep going. I have so much to learn from this boy.

We went to the river in the Y area in the afternoon.

There is free mini golf at the Y camp - this was by far one of Evan's favorite things to do. Mostly he'd say, can "the guys" go play mini golf? He did let the girls go a few times.
