I need to get a good picture of Evan to add to this post...we'll see if he stops long enough.
Evan is 3. I can't believe that he is 3. So much has changed in 3 years. Looking from Abbie to Evan I am amazed at how much we learn and grow in those first few years. He is an amazing sponge of learning. His eyes open and his first question is out of his mouth and I think the last question may even come after he closes them at night. All day long I hear, "Mom....." or "Mom, I have a question...." I try so hard to not get frustrated at this constant questioning as I never want to squelch his learning...but oh for some quiet. He loves cars, toys ones and real ones. If we are in the car he wants to know what each car is. He also loves to match them by color or by type. "Mom, that car matches Sarah's" or "Mom, there are 3 pickup trucks and two are red, they match." He wants to know what is under everything (floors, dirt, concrete, etc) I so need an earth science refresher course. He continues to love music and plays his drums, cymbals and guitar daily and sings. He love to make up songs as well. He has been continuing swim lessons and although he has some fear of jumping into the pool, he is becoming quite the swimmer and loves the water. He loves being a big brother and has adjusted into that role well.
As for the 3 part...it's a challenge to put it lightly. There are some days I think he may spend the next 48 wks in his room in timeout...or that I will end the year in a padded room of my own. He has an amazing heart when it comes to caring about others. He is such an amazing boy and so sweet and kind, yet is testing and pushing limits like no other time in his life. I am grateful I know his heart and can remember who he is and that this is a phase. It's hard at times as he is trying to learn all these new emotions and some are stronger than he knows what to do with. We work hard at using our words, but sometimes it's just too much for him.
I am so excited to see what this year will bring for him and all he will learn and how he will grow. I love this boy so much. I told him the other day how proud I was to be his mom and that I was so grateful God gave him to us. His response? "I'm proud that you are my mom too." I melted. I love his curiousity and sweetness, his rough and tumble"ness" and crazy out of control"ness." He rarely stops moving but he is a ton of fun!

Evan and Abbie
Evan is so sweet with Abbie and always wants her to be with us. He's had some adjustment however he has done amazingly well and loves to help out. His two favorite times are tummy time and bath time. What a sweet big brother! Abbie is truly a lucky girl.
Abbie at 1 Month
Today was Abbie's 1 month check up. She weighed in at 9lbs 10 oz and 22 inches long. She has gone from the 25% in weight to the 60th and from the 50% in height to the 80th...the girl can grow! Her head remains in the 50% range. She is doing great and starting to interact more and more. She is focusing on faces and following us as we move. Her head and neck control are quite amazing and much stronger at this point than Evan's was.
Over all she is a great and easy baby. She has her fussy moments, but she is not hard to console at all. She loves to be held and snuggle, however she hate to be confined...carseats and swaddling are not on the top of her list. She has never loved the swaddle as she hates her arms held down. Even in ultrasounds she always had at least one hand by her face and that is how she sleeps now. She is starting to look like she wants to smile and this morning I think I had the hint of an early smile that was not gas. She will be 5 wks on Saturday so smiles here we come!!

Evan is quite the musician...for a 3 yr old. Grandma and Grandpa got him a guitar for his birthday to go along with his drum, cymbal, harmonica....you can only imagine the volume level of my house. We have set times he can and cannot play for my sanity.

There is so much to say about Evan turning 3 and I hope that I soon get the chance to put my thoughts down, but for now, here are some pictures from his 3rd birthday party. We had a few friends and their families over to our house where Jeff catered with pulled pork sandwiches, cole slaw and hot dogs. We borrowed a friend's small bounce house and had a great time.

Evan wanted a theme of cars...mostly matchbox type cars - the only toy he really needs. Well, Kroger only had a Dale Earnhardt Nascar cake...so that's what he got.
