Evan Turns One!!!!

Evan turned one today...where has the year gone? He has been and still is such a joy and a blessing to Jeff and I and our families. What a difference a year makes!
He started the day thinking he was such a big boy he could boycott his AM nap - so he did. We then went to his Little Gym class. He did well and promptly fell asleep in the car on the way home for a few hours. He had his first taste of cake, and as you can see, he really enjoyed it. Take 2 on the cake in Houston on Saturday for his party.

I'M ONE!
First taste...
And now the handfull...see below for the aftermath.

Trying to be patient waiting his turn at the Little Gym

Eating the Cake Take 1

I think I can grab the whole thing and put it in my mouth

This is SO good!

Post cake sugar high swing time....

Hooked On John Deere

We went to Lowe's on Memorial Day. As soon as we walked in Evan saw the rider mowers and the John Deere. He immediately was squirming to go - it looks a lot like his at home. He was so excited to sit on it and play. I think he's a John Deere man - he's hooked.

My New Skill

Evan has learned to roll a ball and this has proved lots of fun for everyone. He will roll it to you or sometimes just roll it to follow it. He's still using both hands, but at times favors the left...we'll see.

Chasing the ball through the box tunnel.
I'm outta here...until my next round through the tunnel...

He goes back and forth a lot

Dad's In Charge

With Jeff's permission...
Jeff was in charge on Friday so I could go to an appointment, following is what I found on the camera upon my return, not to mention a hot baby. I can't really complain, he was dressed, dry, fed and very happy to be spending time with Dad. And quite cute in his ISU gear.

Evan was dressed in his Iowa State warm up - quite heavy for summer, with a shirt underneath - not to mention - the warm up is still too big - it will be great for fall football season.

Come on Dad!?!
MC EJ Holck in the house!
I'm outta here!

Playing in the "Fort"

Evan and I made a "fort" with the laundry the other day. He loves tunnels and going under things, we both had a great time.

Now you see me...

Now you don't...

Crawling under - so fun

The Little Gym

We went to The Little Gym for the first time today. They said to take a few minutes to let Evan feel comfortable...well, they haven't met Evan before. I put him down and he was off. Too bad he's not adventurous!

He loves bubbles and has a great time catching them.
He (with my help) did forward rolls and walked on a balance beam, he did a great job and had so much fun. He laughed and talked the entire time.

Evan's Own John Deere

Evan's Grandpa and Grandma gave him a John Deere tractor as an early birthday present. He really enjoys pushing the "horn" as it makes an engine start up noise as well as a horn noise. He can ride on it or open the seat and play with the animals inside. He has tried to walk behind it a few times, but no pictures as it's kind of dangerous since the tractor goes faster than his legs right now.

My Big, Silly Boy

Evan will be a year old one week from today. I cannot believe that a year has gone by so quickly. He has gotten so big and adventurous. I rarely get a non-blurry picture these days as he is always moving. He is such a joy and such a ham. He is climbing and crusing and starting to let go when standing. He is "talking" in his own language but using the same "word" for the same thing over and over. What a difference a year makes!

The Neighborhood WaterPark

Evan's Grandma and Grandpa came in from Iowa to visit. It was a beautiful day so we took Evan to the neighborhood waterpark for his first visit. He got so excited when he saw it when we got out of the car, I didn't think we could get him in fast enough. He loved it, I have a feeling that we will be here a lot this summer.
Sunscreen first...he's got his eye on the water

Water shooting up from the ground...this is AWESOME!

Where to next...there is so much more off to my right too...

No posing for the picture today, he's reaching for the water.

I think I've gotten in over my head...HELP!
This is So cool, thanks!

Becoming more and more adventurous

There is a playground next to the waterpark, so we took Evan to play a little before heading home.
