The Drive Home

We made the 16 hr drive home in one stretch...boy were we exhausted!

Getting gas at Cubby's...Jeff's nickname with his friends growing up was Cubbie due to him being such a huge Cubs fan.

This is what you do as gas and bathroom breaks when you are getting your doctorate and your car charger for your computer stops working.

Oh, and your lovely wife guards said laptop while you go inside and drives all but the last 45 minutes of the trip for you too. =)

Memory Lane

We took some time to visit places that were special to the Holck family including this park/lake area where a picnic area had been donated in memory of Jeff's grandparents.

We also visited the cemetery where generations have been laid to rest

The farm. Three Generations on the sign with the next three standing beside it. Six Generations represented.

Duchess would run ahead and then lay down to wait for us. =)

Doing a little driving herself.

Iowa Trip

We drove to Iowa and spent a week with Jeff's family including attending the wedding of one of his cousins. With the prospect of Jeff's parents moving to spend part of the year here in Colorado and part in Arizona, we weren't sure when we'd get back up there so we packed in as much as possible.

The Party

Evan and Abbie shared their birthday parties again this year. This time we had it at an indoor black light mini golf location in the mall.

Abbie and her best bud Elle. These two are 3 weeks apart in age and are hilarious together. We love that Elle and her family live just around the corner!

Evan and Kendall

Evan and another best bud AJ. We are so thankful for the friends he has made this year.

Happy birthday to our two crazy kids!

Kindergarten Graduation

Two of the kindergarten classes graduated together. Evan's class is in the front row.

Evan's amazing, awesome, incredible teacher Mrs. Ray. I cannot thank this woman enough for loving Evan through a hard transition and helping him to have such a wonderful Kindergarten year.

This is his other teacher Mrs. Seitz. She deserves the same amount of thanks for walking Evan through those first few months of school and living in Colorado. She encouraged him and loved him so well. I cried at his graduation, not because of him but because of these two wonderful women.

New Floors

When we bought our home we knew that the main floor flooring would most likely need to be replaced due to some damage. Unfortunately, the longer we lived here the worse the damage became and the carpet was falling apart. Insert a great floor guy, Dan, 11 days of work, Abbie napping in the car due to noise and our stove/oven and 1/2 bath toilet living on our deck for all to see - and we have awesome new wood floors!!

Cutting up a piece of the linoleum that I let them sign

The fridge moved around the house based on where he wasn't working.

Done! We didn't have furniture for about a month, but it's all settled in now. Yay!
