Wow, I can't believe that we are only 2 months shy of having a 2 year old. Evan's world continues to expand and grow daily and his personality is starting to show more and more. Evan is a happy toddler most of the time and loves to talk and play and run. "Evan run" continues to be a favorite phrase as we take many walks up and down the street. He likes to be infront of us, however he will constantly check to make sure you are still coming. This checking has led to a few falls and scrapes. "Owees" are becoming more common these days as warmer weather is leading to short sleeves and shorts - both knees and elbows are currently "owees" in process of healing. He handles it all quite well and usually I don't know we have a scrape until later.
Evan is proving to be an interesting mix in personality of Jeff and I. As children Jeff and I were both shy kids and I have remained somewhat of an introvert into adulthood whereas Jeff has become quite the extravert. Evan is shy in larger groups and will tend to play independently and might seem a little off, however if he is with 3 or less kids he will interact and laugh and play with them. He is the same way with adults, he is shy unless he knows them and then he will run up to them and hug them and talk to them. He is a sensitive kid in that he cries when another child cries (we call him the "sympathetic crier") and if a child takes a toy from him he gets upset - which is normal; however Evan is not upset that the toy is gone, his feelings are hurt that someone would take his toy. It's an interesting difference for him. Sometimes he will take a toy from someone else but if you remind him that the other child was playing with it and he needs to give it back, he usually does on the first request.
He can be quite the ham and loves when people laugh at something he does and he will try to make us laugh sometimes on purpose. He knows all his letters and can identify about 3/4 of them. He counts to 5 and then gets excied and says "8,9,10." We are working on where 6 and 7 went. He loves music as I have stated before and we sing a lot. He continues to love books and reading and he never ceases to amaze me with the things he remembers - he has an incredible memory. He also loves busses and construction trucks - dump trucks, diggers, etc; he gets very excited when we pass a construction site.
And so our adventures continue....

Too bad we aren't neighbors so Addison and Evan could walk together. We walk up and down our street constantly too. He's such a cutie! We need to plan a visit soon!
