Day at the Arboretum

We went to the Arboretum today with our friends Paige and Sophie. Each year for about 5-6 weeks they have a pumpkin patch, pumpkin house and a hay maze. Sophie and Evan had a great time climbing on the pumpkin "hills" and trying to carry many of them as well.

Our Singing Boy

Evan loves to sing. Today he wanted to sing for the camera - so of course I obliged! He picked the songs.

Jesus Loves Me

A Medely

Row, Row, Row, Your Boat

ABCs. He got distracted at the end so he didn't finish the song but still cute!

"Silly Adam and Eve"

The church "year" just started with the little ones and Evan has moved into the preschool. They get to watch puppets tell stories and sing, Evan comes home every Sunday telling me about the story the puppets told and the songs they sang. They have started in Genesis so Evan has been telling me about Adam and Eve. He comes home with story sheets and some things we can do with him during the week as well. Today I asked him what he learned and he said, "Silly Adam and Eve." I asked him why they were silly and he told me they ate an apple and that God had told them no. Then followed that with, "Silly Adam and Eve" again. Apparently they talked about sin. I will miss these little sayings someday.

Mason

This past weekend we went to visit Amy's parents at their home in Mason. It was so nice to go and relax and spend time with family. Evan had a great time swimming in the little pool, riding in and "driving" the Ranger, feeding the cows, painting his first Mason rock (a family tradition going back to my childhood), exploring and playing with Jessie his favorite dog. He's asked for Lela and Grandaddy everyday since.

Ring Around the Rosie

Evan continues to love music and now loves to sing. Some of his favorites are "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star," "Ring Around the Rosie," and "Row, Row, Row Your Boat." Here he is playing Ring Around the Rosie with his football in the pool - he loves the falling down part.

Riding the DART Train

Evan got to ride the DART train for the first time a few weeks ago. He was really excited and had fun going up north with Daddy to meet some friends.

What a Helper

Many times these days when I am doing dishes I will hear Evan say, "I be right back Mama," and he returns with his step so that he can help me clean up.

Potty Training!

On Monday July 7th we officially left diapers behind and started potty training. We decided to go straight from diapers to underpants. Evan and I stayed home and just drank a lot of water and juice and got lots of practice. He has done great and really seems to have it down. He had no accidents from Tuesday afternoon until Sunday evening and has done great since then. He is so proud of his "big boy pants."

On the first two days we spent most of our time just in a shirt and underwear...and of course his construction hat.

What a big boy!
Washing hands seems harder to learn than anything else. Here his ball is getting washed as well.

4th of July

Our really good friends from Houston were up at a lakehouse about 1.5 hours from us this weekend. We had the opportunity to go spend the day with them on Friday the 4th. It was really great to be able to hang out with them and their family for the day. Evan got to go on his first boat ride and he was so excited about it. He spent a lot of the boat ride bascially squealing with excitement. He had a great time swimming in the lake as well.

Is he 2 or 10? The hat really ages him!

With our friends Alica and Dack after a day of fun and boating. He was very excited to see them and we all hope to see them again soon!
